Raising Your Daughter in a Radically Feminist Society

Updated: Mar 7, 2020

Rejecting radical feminism and embracing submission. Take charge in teaching your daughter her true value without promoting disrespect in the process.

Some of you may be wondering, what in the world is radical feminism and why should it matter to me? To truly answer this question we must have a solid understanding of the meaning behind this movement. According to Urban Dictionary, radical feminism aims to challenge and to overthrow patriarchy by opposing standard gender roles and androcentrism, and calls for a radical reordering of society. These suggestions often include the abolition of gender roles, the support of LGBTQ rights and liberation, the restructuring of the family, and economic changes to end any gendered privileges.

Our willful support of radical feminism gives the enemy the inch he needs to attempt to derail and destroy our children's future.

With the rise in radical feminism, it is easy to see why there has been a decline in marriage and an increase in divorce. Many women today are raising children alone and this is part of the enemy's attempt to destroy their future. Having an uncovered home - whether voluntary or involuntary - directly impacts our children. So, what can you do to ensure your daughter understands the value of submission, respect and family? It won't be easy but anything worth having is typically not free from hard work and this is no exception. We must always look at the words of Jesus when trying to understand how to approach a situation. The bible was given to help guide us through life so let's journey through the Word and seek the Lord together.

Solutions From The Word Of God

Jezebel could be said to have been a radical feminist in her day. She was someone who wanted to have the same, and even more, power and respect than her husband, King Ahab. We see that through all of her toiling and evil deeds, her end was tragic. You can read her full story in 1 Kings 16:31-2 Kings 9:37.

Throughout scripture, we see that Jesus was gentle and caring toward women. He took time to give instruction to wives however, these words can really be applied to any woman who lives today, whether married or unmarried. In 1 Peter 3:3-4, we are admonished to not let our beauty be merely outward but that it should come from the beauty of our inner person by wearing a gentle and quiet spirit. There is no benefit in showing our outward beauty if we are not also going to display the work that God has completed on the inside of us.

The Proverbs 31 woman was a woman who was about her business but she was also someone who cared for those of her household and her community as well. The bible says it like this, "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies... She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." (Proverbs 31:10, 26). 1 Peter 3:6 reveals how Sara called Abraham lord as an act of obedience to him. This seems to be a direct contradiction to the radical feminism movement that pushes for women to be greater than men. A good woman understands the value of respect and takes heed to teach, show, and give it to those who are being influenced by her life.

When God created women, He created something unique and wonderful and good. Women hold a powerful tool within them that we don't always tap into - that tool is gentleness. There is so much more that could be said about the value of a woman, radical feminism and how we can combat this notion and movement in our own families but I think you get the picture. Instead of supporting feminism and women behaving in a way that does not honor our Creator or the men that we have in our lives, maybe we can remind ourselves of what the Proverbs 31 woman would do and proceed from there.
