Unmasking Jezebel

Have you felt the call of Jehu on your life? Let's get ready for battle!

There's an old adage that says, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." If you're reading this, it may be an indication that you're ready to go deeper in your walk with the Lord.

Many of you may have already heard about a woman named Jezebel. If not, you're in the right place because we're going to talk about her today. The story of Ahab and Jezebel can be found in the books of 1 & 2 Kings. Specifically, Jezebel steps on the scene in 1 Kings 16:31. Her story starts as she becomes the wife of a king named Ahab, quickly propelling her to power. We learn that Ahab was ultimately used as Jezebel's puppet. God sent Elijah to fight against false prophets and witchcraft, including Jezebel. He defeated the prophets of Baal and stood his ground against Jezebel for a period of time, until she ran him away with a threat on his life. Her words instilled a crippling fear in him that he was not able to recover from. Later, God commissioned Jehu to destroy Ahab and he ends up battling against this evil queen. Jehu was smaller than Elijah, but he was determined, loyal, and dedicated to the call. He prevailed against Jezebel and gained victory for Israel. How many of you know that mighty things sometimes come in the most unlikely packages?

Jezebel is a very common spirit, but strong spirit. She must be confronted, she cannot be prayed away! This requires a level of spiritual violence that many Christians are not ready to embrace. It also requires soldiers who aren't afraid to go to war and enter into the battle. We know there are casualties with every war, but the time is now! God is raising up an army and a people regardless of age, race, and gender, who will stand in these last days for His heavenly kingdom. You have to decide if you want to be part of this battle or not. If you're ready to fight, let's prepare soldier!

"And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force." ~ Matthew 11:12 (NKJV)

We should understand some basics about this spirit before we dive any deeper. When we talk about Jezebel, please note that we're not just talking about a woman. Jezebel is able to operate in both women and men. Oftentimes, we don't equate the actions of a man with having the spirit of Jezebel, however, it's very common for a man to be possessed by this demonic spirit as well.

We must understand that our God is a merciful Father. He had even given Jezebel, a very wicked woman (now spirit), time to repent but she chose not to. Spirits will use feelings and emotions to appeal to your humanity. This is something that we need to understand because it's a tactic that Jezebel will use when you come against her. This spirit is very controlling and manipulative. Jezebel hates the spirit of the warrior. She hates authority. She hates prophets, though she's attracted to the prophetic. She doesn't care if you preach and teach, or even if you receive the preaching and the teaching as long as you don't truly apply it. Sounds a lot like lukewarm Christianity, right? Jezebel desires positions of power and authority. Her manipulation can come in various ways so that she's able to creep into an unknowing vessel's life. God is doing away with this spirit, and she must be defeated!

Either way you look at it, spiritual warfare is inevitable when you begin confronting the spirit of Jezebel. This is because Jezebel is always tied to witchcraft. What does the Bible say about witchcraft? "Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft" (1 Samuel 15:23). This helps us to understand that the Jezebel spirit never comes alone, but it's always accompanied by other spirits (i.e. Jezebel's children). Some of these accompanying spirits will be witchcraft, rebellion, stubbornness, idolatry, and pride. What's interesting about this spirit is that Jezebel is very patient. I guess you'd have to be patient if you need time to work your way into an organization, ministry, or into a leaders life and family. One thing we should note is that if the devil can't stop you, he'll join you! The Bible talks about how the enemy perverts truth. This is usually done by sprinkling a little truth in a pot of deception.

Jezebel is a very bitter spirit. There's always a root to bitterness and this is another reason why we can confidently say that this spirit never operates alone. We must look for other spirits and at the person's history to effectively battle this spirit. Jezebel is often linked to bloodlines. This usually presents itself as being generational (i.e. grandmother operated in this spirit, mom did also, and now it's trying to attach itself or attack the grandchild). This is extremely common and we begin to understand this the more we study how spirits operate and set-up their organization. We must keep in mind that our physical world is only a reflection of the spirit realm.

There's nothing to worry about though! If God has called you to battle, He will equip you with the tools that you need to do so. The Bible reminds us that He has "thoroughly equipped [you] for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:17). There's much to learn about this spirit. You may want to take some time to fast and pray, so that the Holy Spirit can reveal the hidden things to you.

This post may have caused you to think of someone that you personally know who exhibits some or all of these characteristics. I'd advise you to go to God in prayer about this, and let Him confirm or deny whatever He wills. If you feel the call to battle Jezebel, now is the time! Please understand that you don't have to be a certain age, ethnicity, or gender. Familarity is a thing of the past! God is flipping the script on the devil and rewriting the battle strategy. He's raising up a group of people who are desperate for Him and who are ready to fight until the end! As mentioned before, this army will not be based on age, race, or even one's gender, but it'll be filled with those who were unlikely to have ever been chosen by this world. It's time to put on your armor and join the battle. You're ready!
